Japanese mini chefs

It was a food design extravaganza for Year 4, 5 and 6 during the last week of Term 3. Whitty Sensei came to visit from Capricornia School of Distance Education for the week with a very practical unit on Japanese food. Our master chefs were able to design and decorate a range of snack food based on rice moulded into animal shapes and decorate them with a variety of fresh vegetables, seaweed and other Japanese food items using some very special mini food cutters. There were lots new learnings and some great practice of the Japanese language as well as practicing the use of chop sticks for eating their final products. Online lessons in Term 4 will consolidate the learnings they have begun during the mini chef unit.
