Dalby South teachers are presently part of the Queensland Department of Education Quality Teacher Rounds project. At the heart of this model is The Quality Teaching Model. This model, derived from decades of research, highlights 3 key dimensions of good teaching:
- Intellectual Quality,
- Quality Learning Environment and
- Significance.
These dimensions cover teaching a deep understanding of concepts, skills and ideas; teachers and students working productively together, clearly focussed on learning with high expectations, positive relationships and ensuring that learning is meaningful outside of the classroom.
During this process, the teachers involved in the project have spent time not only in professional development delivered through the University of Newcastle around these concepts but are also involved in observing each other teach and evaluating and discussing various teaching methods and analysing teaching practice to maximise student achievement.
